Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Dispenser to join our team at Lenham and Harrietsham Practices. As a key member of our dispensary team, you will be responsible for dispensing medication to patients, maintaining accurate records, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Dispense medication to patients in accordance with prescriptions and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Conversant with EMIS clinical system and Link computer systems
  • Manage stock rotation, out of date stock, and deal with wholesalers
  • Handle cash and collect prescription monies, cash up at end of day
  • Print prescriptions and label
  • Assist Dispensary Manager in prescription management, filing, and processing for payment
  • Prepare medication within the Monitored Dosage System (Manrex, blister packs)
  • Review use of medicines with patients (DRUM system)
  • Check medication reviews and deal with patient recall
  • Report all complaints to the Dispensary Manager (or Practice Manager)
  • Work within the Misuse of Drugs Act regarding Controlled Drugs
  • Work effectively within the dispensary
  • Undertake housekeeping tasks within the dispensary
  • Ensure that outstanding matters and information are handed over to colleagues at end of shift/day
  • Regularly check email, Tasks, and Messages
  • Answer telephone calls in a friendly, polite, and professional manner
  • Develop and maintain good communications skills
  • Achieve NVQ Level 2 Dispensing
  • Work within a team and autonomously
  • To be aware of and work within Health & Safety policies relating to maintenance of a safe environment for patients and staff
  • To be aware of and adhere to organisational policies and procedures
  • To be smart, polite, and courteous at all times
  • Assist with mentoring/training of staff
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of information relating to patients, their relatives/carers, and other members of staff
Requirements
  • Pharmacy Dispensing qualification (NVQ Level 2)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of EMIS clinical system and Link computer systems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
