About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Gardener to join our team at The National Trust. As a key member of our gardening team, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of horticulture, conservation, and visitor experience in our captivating naturalistic paradise garden.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the day-to-day maintenance and development of the garden, including mulching, pruning, leaf clearing, and weeding.
  • Contribute to the delivery of projects, including gardening workshops, tours, and events.
  • Interact with the public daily, answering their questions and providing information about the garden and its plants.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to maintain and improve the garden and its collection.
  • Manage a demanding outdoor role, including working in a team, with volunteers, or on your own.

Requirements

  • Enthusiastic horticulturist and hands-on gardener with experience in hard landscaping.
  • Knowledgeable about plants, with a great eye for detail.
  • Experienced with machinery, including tractors, chainsaws, rotary and cylinder mowers, and with some knowledge of maintenance.
  • Able to manage a demanding outdoor role, including working in a team, with volunteers, or on your own.
  • Good at talking to and getting on with all kinds of people.
