Join Our Team as a Reliability Engineering Technician

The Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team at Amazon plays a crucial role in ensuring our operations run smoothly by maintaining essential machinery.

As an RME Technician, you will be responsible for the upkeep of various equipment and workspaces while adhering to Health and Safety best practices. Your efforts will contribute to the safety of your colleagues and minimize machine downtime. Our RME Technicians enhance the availability and quality of our equipment, fostering an improved operational environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform proactive and preventative maintenance on a diverse range of site equipment.
  • Execute reactive repairs and conduct fault diagnosis in a live distribution warehouse.
  • Utilize cutting-edge tools to maximize equipment effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety policies and practices.
  • Assist in the development and progression of onsite apprentices.
  • Engage in continuous improvement projects and implement best practices across various sites.


A Day in the Life:
As an RME Technician, you will be stationed on-site, allowing for quick responses to any machinery issues. You will conduct planned preventative maintenance to ensure equipment operates safely. Additionally, you will respond swiftly to breakdowns, investigating and implementing solutions promptly while also suggesting long-term improvements.

Working alongside senior colleagues, you will perform daily maintenance tasks such as painting and plumbing, and coordinate with contractors when external expertise is required.

You will work various shifts to ensure our sites are supported around the clock, enabling Amazon to maintain its renowned delivery speed.


About the Team:
The Reliability Maintenance Engineering team is dedicated to keeping our equipment performing optimally. We are a technically skilled group of excellent team players, guided by experienced leaders. Together, we maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment across our global network of fulfillment centers.

Our team members include leaders who oversee operations involving exciting technology, some of which is unique to Amazon.

From installing automated packaging systems to managing general site maintenance and repairing key distribution equipment, our team handles various aspects of Amazon's technical operations. This includes ensuring legal compliance for safety and maximizing operational efficiency.

We focus on minimizing downtime in Amazon's critical operations, ensuring customers receive their orders on time. Our work often occurs during early or late hours to perform maintenance with minimal disruption, including night shifts.

If we identify a more efficient method, we possess the skills and opportunity to develop and introduce innovative processes or advanced technologies like Amazon Robotics and our Complex Item Sorter.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Completion of a full Engineering indentured apprenticeship and/or qualification to a minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering subject (City & Guilds Level 3, SVQ/IVQ).
  • Relevant experience as a qualified engineer.
  • Experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance.
  • Advanced proficiency in the local language, both verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Apprentice Trained, HNC, HND, BSc, BEng.
  • Experience in condition-based monitoring.
  • Experience working with print and apply machines.
  • Experience in fault finding and maintaining conveyor or automation systems.
