About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Security Specialist to join our team at Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Information Management and Technology department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our sensitive data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of data protection strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with UK and European data protection laws.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure the effective use of data protection legislation and the implementation of robust security measures to protect against cyber threats.
  • Deliver training and awareness programs to staff on data protection best practices and the importance of data security.
  • Monitor and report on data security incidents and breaches, and develop strategies to mitigate risks and prevent future incidents.
  • Work closely with the Records Management team to ensure the accurate and secure handling of patient records and other sensitive information.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including senior management, IT teams, and external partners, to ensure effective communication and collaboration on data security matters.
Requirements
  • Education to degree level or equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders.
  • Experience in data protection, compliance, and risk management, with a strong understanding of UK and European data protection laws.
  • Proven track record of delivering training and awareness programs, with the ability to adapt to different learning styles and needs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, with a strong focus on collaboration and communication.
