Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and repairs by executing reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks to meet operational needs.
  • Support operations by undertaking various ad hoc tasks as necessary.
  • Ensure effective communication with colleagues, maintenance managers, and shift supervisors through relevant reporting systems.
  • Manage and organize personal workload while adhering to a designated task schedule.
  • Complete assignments punctually and to a high standard.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Adhere to safety protocols using Dynamic Risk Assessment principles.
  • Conduct repairs on various types of machinery and equipment in a safe and professional manner.
  • Assist in developing and implementing planned preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Execute PPM schedules and planned work orders as required.
  • Operate maintenance equipment such as Forklift Trucks and Elevated Working Platforms when necessary.
  • Support visiting specialist engineers as needed.
  • Report breakdown causes, equipment issues, and concerns to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) effectively.
  • Plan and prioritize tasks to support production and optimize working time.
  • Raise and complete work requests through the CMMS as needed.
  • Manufacture necessary spare parts (e.g., simple bracketry, gaskets) using lathes, milling machines, and welding equipment.
  • Identify spare parts requirements and manage their usage.

Candidate Profile:

  • Multi-skilled with a minimum engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 4, HNC, recognized apprenticeship).
  • Demonstrable experience with electrical control, PLC, and automation systems.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and operational knowledge of OEE, 5S, Lean manufacturing techniques, TPM, and PPM in a manufacturing context.
  • Able to work independently and take initiative in completing assigned tasks.
  • Willingness to undertake additional responsibilities as directed by the Engineering Manager.
  • Committed to continually challenging and enhancing standards.
  • Open to taking on ad hoc tasks across various areas.
  • Dedicated to maintaining high standards of product and personal safety in compliance with HSE, EHO, and HMRC regulations.
