About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager to join our Science Division team at the Health and Safety Executive. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing a portfolio of medium-high risk science and engineering-based health and safety projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement project plans, ensuring accurate definition of project aims, objectives, and scope of work.
  • Lead and motivate delivery teams to identify requirements, plan work, and manage delivery to quality, time, and cost.
  • Proactively manage budgets and costs, ensuring effective financial management.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, ensuring their needs are understood and met throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks, ensuring effective project risk management.
  • Record key project information, enabling senior managers to make informed decisions.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in managing and delivering projects at pace, throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with ability to balance competing demands.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with ability to engage effectively with team members, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues.
  • High degree of personal resilience, with ability to excel under ambiguous and ever-changing situations.
Essential Criteria
  • Project management experience, demonstrating strong knowledge and application.
  • Effective communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time and on-budget completion.
  • Experience in risk management, including identifying and mitigating potential risks.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and cost estimation.
  • Experience in project scheduling, resource allocation, with excellent negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to work towards additional project management qualifications.
