Electrical and Electronic Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical and Electronic Design Engineer to join our team at City of Bristol College. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for designing and building equipment, operating and maintaining workshop equipment, and providing technical assistance to students and researchers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Build: Design and build equipment from concepts to completion, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and University procedures.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Operate, service, maintain, and calibrate workshop equipment, including soldering irons, hand and power tools, multimeters, PAT testers, and specialist equipment.
  • Problem-Solving: Diagnose and rectify basic electrical and electronic problems, identifying short-term and long-term solutions.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide technical assistance and training to students and researchers on their projects or experiments.
Additional Responsibilities at Grade I:
  • Standardization and Risk Assessment: Assist in defining and managing standards, procedures, and risk assessments.
  • Team Training and Support: Train and support other team members in electrical, analogue, and digital electronics, data acquisition, and micro-processing.

Requirements:

  • Expertise: Extensive knowledge in electrical, analogue, and digital electronics, data acquisition, and micro-processing.
  • Regulatory Understanding: Ability to translate regulatory requirements and industry standards into internal practices and train the team in their use.
  • Safety: Experience in writing risk assessments and safe operating procedures and applying these in the workplace.
