About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Software Engineer to join our team at Sanderson Government & Defence. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for migrating, developing, and deploying new Cloud applications for a variety of Defence and Cyber Security Programmes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Cloud Migration and Development: Work as part of a high-performing team to migrate, develop, and deploy new Cloud applications for Defence and Cyber Security Programmes.
  2. Technical Design and Solutioning: Translate business visions, goals, objectives, and high-level commissioning requirements into system designs and solutions, working with well-understood technologies.
  3. Solution Architecture and Governance: Own the end-to-end solution architecture for allocated projects, identifying and engaging all stakeholders, suppliers, and delivery teams that need to contribute.
  4. Technical Strategy and Roadmapping: Develop elements of technical strategy, roadmaps, and vision that align to board-approved business cases, policies, and wider Enterprise standards.
  5. Technical Design Authority and Governance: Provide Technical Design Authority and Governance for technical solution architectures for allocated programmes and projects.
  6. Technical Consultancy and Leadership: Provide technical consultancy for new initiatives, to assist in the definition of business requirements or technical strategies, and provide hands-on leadership to protect scheduling commitments and outcomes.
Essential Skills and Experience
  1. Agile Methodologies and Tools: Skilled in Agile methodologies and tools including Scrum, Kanban, JIRA, Confluence.
  2. Cloud Technologies and Services: Strong experience with Cloud technologies and services (AWS / Azure / Google Cloud Platform).
  3. CI/CD Practices: Good knowledge of CI/CD practices with Jenkins, GitLab, and/or GitHub.
  4. IaC Development: IaC development with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Ansible, and/or Puppet.
  5. Container Technologies and Orchestration: Good knowledge of container technologies and orchestration engines Docker / Rocket Kubernetes / OpenShift.
  6. Zero Trust and Micro Services Architectures: Knowledge and/or experience with Zero Trust and Micro Services Architectures.
  7. Programming Languages: Proficient in Java and other languages such as Python.
  8. Full-Stack System Design: Experience in full-stack system design.
  9. Testing Frameworks: Experience in testing frameworks.
  10. Platform Development: Experience in developing on Linux and/or Windows platform development.
  11. Database Management: Experience with Oracle Relational Databases and Mongo.
  12. DevOps and DevSecOps: Familiarity with DevOps and DevSecOps philosophies, including secure design and implementation.
