About the Role:

The Senior Web Software Engineer will be a key contributor to the Engineering team at mkodo, delivering award-winning apps and services. This role requires a rock-solid engineer with a deep understanding of software engineering principles and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop web applications using NodeJS, React, and NextJS.
  • Implement secure, scalable, and high-performance APIs and web services.
  • Develop and maintain server-side logic, ensuring high performance and responsiveness.
  • Contribute to the development of adaptive UIs for web applications.
  • Collaborate with the team to deliver complex projects and ensure drama-free releases.
  • Provide technical advice and make decisions that affect the wider team.
  • Identify and clean up technical debt, and encourage the team to do the same.
  • Research and propose new technologies to improve the team's capabilities.
  • Contribute to the development of auditable regulatory compliance measures, such as ISO27001 and PCI Compliance.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in Web Development.
  • Experience in Full Stack development.
  • Significant experience working with RESTful APIs.
  • Self-motivated, strong individual contributor.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring team members.
  • Experience contributing to standards and best practices.
  • Prioritises tasks using knowledge of the business, clients, and end users.
  • Identifies risks in code, features, and design, and communicates these to the appropriate parties.
  • Can perform a Technical Lead role where needed on small to medium projects.
  • Clear communication skills via a multitude of mediums to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of software engineering principles and best practices.
  • Awareness of industry best practice.
  • Can manage and lead small projects or groups of stories.
  • Active learner, both within your technical and professional area of expertise.
  • Confident influencer with a good coaching, mentoring, appreciation, and feedback ethos.
  • Resilient, calm, and methodical in high pressure situations.
  • Excellent first-hand knowledge of software development techniques and methodologies throughout the SDLC.
  • Understanding & supporting Engineering strategies and improving existing Engineering processes.
  • Demonstrable first-hand experience as Senior Software Engineer or similar role.
  • Experience with agile management tools such as Redmine and Jira etc.
  • Comfortable with SCM tools, such as SVN or Git.
  • Experience in client facing situations.
