Mtrec Recruitment is proud to represent a leading manufacturing client in the recruitment of an experienced Health and Safety Officer.

The successful candidate will report to the UK H&S Manager and be responsible for providing advice and expertise to employees, supervisors, and management in the development, implementation, and maintenance of safe work practices and procedures in all operational areas and locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise Senior Management on H&S Law and updates.
  • Ensure safety procedures and working practices comply with legislative requirements and company values.
  • Oversee accident reporting under RIDDOR guidelines.
  • Monitor and take action on accident/incident investigation, record, manage complaints, and cases of ill health.
  • Investigate and record incidents, accidents, complaints, and cases of ill health.
  • Conduct risk assessments and site inspections, considering risk reduction.
  • Produce inspection analysis and reports to suggest improvements.
  • Ensure equipment is installed correctly and safely.
  • Deliver and coordinate required training, maintaining records, and ensuring consistency across all sites.
  • Chair and coordinate H&S meetings for the Scarborough site.
  • Assist with conducting H&S audits and oversee external insurer audits.
  • Make presentations to groups of employees/managers.
  • Liaise with relevant authorities.
  • Ensure the OH&S Management System conforms to ISO 45001 standard.
  • Report on the performance of the site OH&S Management System to top management.
  • Perform internal audits of the ISO 45001 Management System when requested.
About You
  • Hold an Occupational H&S qualification, e.g., NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma.
  • Proven ability to acquire and apply detailed legal, technical, and regulatory information.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Effective communicator at all levels - internal and external stakeholders.
  • Positive, proactive, and professional approach with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain confidentiality.
  • Organisation and time management skills (priorities and multitask).
  • Excellent analysis skills in understanding processes, tasks, and operations.
  • Listening and presentation skills.
  • Leadership and persuasive skills.
  • Calm, patient, and assertive with excellent negotiation skills.
  • Driving license is desirable.
  • Willing to travel to other UK-based site locations.
