Lead Engineer for CAD in Closures and Mechanisms

The Lead Engineer for CAD in Closures and Mechanisms is tasked with ensuring the successful technical execution of projects, adhering to budget, quality, and timelines as directed by their module team line manager.

Engineers may be required to engage in areas outside their primary focus based on project demands. The ideal candidate will showcase adaptability and a proactive mindset.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in CAD operations: The engineer must possess the ability to create and modify geometrical designs for effective communication of ideas and concepts.
  • Experience with Catia v5 & v6, TCUA, and PLM systems.
  • Demonstrated history of delivering specific module systems within the automotive industry.
  • Capable of managing and resolving engineering challenges, collaborating efficiently with cross-functional teams, and adhering to company protocols and quality benchmarks.
  • Active participation in process enhancement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the BIW & Closures Lead Engineer and engage in other necessary tasks.
  • Oversee the creation of 2D and 3D models related to closure and mechanism engineering.
  • Utilize TCUA and PLM for data management, develop Engineering Bill of Materials (BoM), and contribute to cost and weight assessments.
  • Generate PMXU, establish engineering hard-points, and conduct design surface feasibility evaluations.
  • Facilitate the resolution of issues while assessing cost, weight, and timing implications, supporting module deliverables through required project gateways.
  • Contribute to the formulation and enhancement of design rules and guidelines, and assist in Engineering Release activities within project support.

Systems Involved:

  • Side closures, Tailgate, Hood, Drop-glass mechanisms, Seals, Latches, Handles, IRVM, Roof systems, Wiper systems, Roof rails.
