We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Psychotherapist to join our team at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a qualified clinical/counselling psychology or psychotherapy service to cancer patients, as part of the Adult Psychological Support Service, within a specialist cancer treatment centre.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide a range of interventions to support patients and those affected by cancer across the lifespan, including individual therapy and groups.
- Work within the highly specialised area of psych-oncology to provide appropriate psychological assessments, based upon the use, interpretation and integration of complex psychological data from a variety of sources.
- Integrate with the psychological formulation specialist knowledge of complex mental health disorders.
- Undertake risk assessment and risk management, where appropriate, in regards to patients and provide advice to other professionals.
- Act as co-ordinator to ensure adequate provision of care for the patients and their relatives needs, communicating effectively with the patient, his/her family and all others involved in the network of care.

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is a world-leading cancer centre, offering our patients the best cancer care available anywhere in the world. We employ over 4,500 staff in a diverse range of careers, including nursing, medical, science, radiography, pharmacy, occupational therapy, finance and administrative services.
Person Specification:
- Post-Graduate Doctoral level training in Clinical/Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996), accredited by the BPS.
- Registration with Health Care Professions Council OR Master's Degree training in psychotherapy.
- Accredited with UK psychotherapy professional body, e.g. UK Council for Psychotherapy, British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
Desirable:
- Post-qualification training in one or more additional specialised areas of clinical practice, e.g. including CBT, ACT, CFT, mindfulness based approaches, EMDR, solution focused/systemic approaches.
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of patients across a range of physical and mental health care settings, including outpatient, community and inpatient settings.
- Experience of working as a qualified clinical/counselling psychologist/psychotherapist with patients with cancer or a life limiting illness.
- Experience of working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams within a hospital setting, and the ability to form good working relationships.
