Visual Media Team Member

Bloomberg News is seeking an experienced photo assignments editor to join our Visual Media Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assigning photographers to capture the essential elements of our stories, processing imagery with speed and accuracy, and ensuring that our visual content meets the highest standards of quality and integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assign photographers to capture key elements of our stories
  • Process imagery with speed and accuracy using industry-standard tools and Bloomberg's proprietary systems
  • Ensure that visual content meets the highest standards of quality and integrity
  • Work closely with our editorial team to ensure that our visual content supports our storytelling goals
  • Stay up-to-date with current events and global market trends to ensure that our visual content is relevant and engaging
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant photo editing experience in a news environment
  • Advanced experience with Photoshop, Photo Mechanic, FTP, CMS/DAM systems
  • High awareness of current events and decision-makers affecting global markets, economics, geopolitics, companies, government policy, and general business
  • Experience assigning photographers to capture key elements of stories
  • Ability to rapidly interpret text and match with appropriate imagery
  • Eye for detail and awareness of cultural sensitivities to make photo choices that are both accurate and tasteful
  • Familiarity with legal issues involved with image licensing, permissions, and privacy rights
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strategic problem solver
  • International assignment experience
  • Experience working in an all-hands-on-deck environment
  • Experience with graphic/web design, html/CSS, multimedia storytelling, Premiere Pro/Final Cut, and audio
