About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Director to join our team at CV Library. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in driving business growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and Implement Commercial Strategy: Define, direct, and lead a commercial strategy that balances risk to the business with opportunity for income to reinvest in the business.
  2. Lead the Commercial Team: Direct and lead the governance of the Commercial team, ensuring proper accountability for, and reporting of, all commercial activity and the development of appropriate control systems.
  3. Manage Commercial Business Ventures: Direct the performance of existing commercial business ventures ensuring that contracts are fulfilled, and profit targets are delivered.
  4. Embed Commercial Approach: Help define and embed a commercial approach to the running of the department across all levels of the hierarchy. Work with the senior management team to collaboratively guide the development of professional standards, commercial contracts, and service level agreements.
  5. Risk Management: Take steps to identify and manage risks commercial and otherwise.
  6. Support Land Bid Submissions: Actively support land bid submissions throughout the business unit.
  7. Market Organization's Capabilities: Market the organization's capabilities in the delivery and management of commercial activities and maintain Vistry Homes profile with customers/clients, external bodies, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  8. Compliance and Governance: Manage risk and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal procedural requirements.
  9. Team Performance and Development: Manage and support the performance and development of the Commercial team.
  10. Social Value: Actively support social value within the business, including collation of data, increasing local social and economic value and driving cultural change within the teams.
Requirements
  1. Experience in Residential House Building: Experience working within a residential house builder.
  2. People Management and Project Leading: Experience of people management and project leading.
  3. Building Regulations and Legal Obligations: A good understanding of building regulations and legal obligations.
  4. Construction Contracts: A good understanding of construction contracts including JCT and NEC.
  5. Construction Methods and Materials: A good knowledge of construction methods and materials.
  6. Leadership and Teamwork: Be an inspirational leader and a strong team player.
  7. Business Growth: Experience of supporting business growth.
  8. Analytical, Oral, and Presentation Skills: Well-developed analytical, oral and presentation / communication skills.
  9. Commercial Planning: Ability to formulate commercial plans and ensure full engagement.
Desirable Qualifications
  1. Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS): A Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), or Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
  2. Continued Professional Development: Committed to chosen profession by continued self-development, i.e., short courses, seminars.
  3. Surveying, Building, or Similar Degree: Degree in Surveying, Building or similar.
