Job Title: Corporate Scientific and Regulatory Affairs Director, Additives and Ingredients

Job Summary:

The Corporate Scientific and Regulatory Affairs Director, Additives and Ingredients is a key role within Mars Inc. that leads cross-segment scientific and regulatory initiatives related to additives, ingredients, and regulated undesirable substances.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with segments to action scientific and regulatory horizon scanning topics, supporting a proactive approach and identifying opportunities in technical areas.
  • Leverage fit-for-purpose strategic international external networks to engage and advocate Mars positions.
  • Establish a more advanced compliance and technical advocacy infrastructure, including working groups, technical positions, toolkits, and other resources.
  • Develop and implement technical advocacy positions and external leadership on relevant topics.
  • Action horizon scanning insights to protect or open up opportunities.

SRA SME Focus Area:

The focus is on SRA SME areas that require a cross-segment SRA approach to protect our freedom to operate or are identified as opportunities for the business to activate related to additives, ingredients, and regulated undesirable substances in our Pet or Human foods.

Issues/Opportunity Management Related to SME Focus Area:

  • Monitor, identify, communicate, and action emerging SRA issues and opportunities.
  • Lead and drive cross-segment/cross-functional development, deployment, and communication of Mars SRA positions, advocacy tools, and topic-specific resources.
  • Ensure that Mars is well-informed of emerging topics that may influence current and future government and regulatory policies or regulations.
  • Propose research and science needs/considerations to support opportunities for existing and future product portfolio through the scientific and regulatory horizon scanning and issues management processes.
  • Lead establishment of necessary standards/procedure, metrics, and deliverables to assess impact and influence and show a drive to continuous improvement.

Functional Capability Building Related to SME Focus Area:

  • Develop SRA-specific tools, trainings, toolkits, and other resources.

Internal Stakeholder Development & Management Related to SME Focus Area:

  • Establish and lead cross-segment SRA working groups to support capability building.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to support development of relevant business positions and policies, engaging globally, cross-functionally, and across business segments.

External Network Development & Management Related to SME Focus Area:

  • Leverage fit-for-purpose strategic international external networks to engage and advocate Mars positions.
