Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated mortuary operations leader with significant expertise to manage the mortuary services, ensuring effective daily operations and strategic development across the organization.
The successful candidate will provide guidance to the designated authority on service enhancements, oversee sensitive licensing activities, and uphold the standards and quality of care for individuals in our service. Additionally, the role involves offering specialized advice, coordinating staff training, and fostering a professional image of the mortuary services.
Candidates should possess substantial experience in healthcare, ideally with qualifications in Anatomical Pathology Technology or equivalent, or have a strong background in a mortuary or related healthcare setting. The ideal applicant will demonstrate specialized knowledge and skills acquired from working in a mortuary or end-of-life care environment, along with a proactive problem-solving approach. The role requires managing and coordinating inspections by regulatory authorities and addressing any recommendations.
Strong communication, teamwork, effective staff management, and leadership abilities are essential. The candidate must be highly organized and experienced in Quality Management Systems and change management. Proven management experience in staff oversight and mortuary-related functions is also required.
Key Responsibilities
The role demands the ability to identify and implement opportunities for quality, efficiency, and productivity improvements to facilitate service transformation and development. Experience in financial and budget management is also advantageous.
The mortuary services are licensed under relevant regulatory authorities and provide essential storage prior to post-mortem procedures and retrieval of samples for authorized activities. While the mortuary does not engage in invasive procedures, we are committed to delivering exceptional care for the deceased entrusted to us. The newly established position of Mortuary Operations Manager will be responsible for governance and oversight of licensing activities on behalf of the designated authority for post-mortem services.

- Membership in a professional body or association (AAPT, RIPH)
