As the Government Relations Manager, your role will be essential in crafting and overseeing engagement strategies to foster awareness, comprehension, and support for smart meters among political and professional entities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and implement a strategy to advocate for smart meters to policymakers and stakeholders, including local authorities, small enterprises, and the nonprofit sector.
- Engage with and inform key political figures and influencers regarding the smart meter initiative and related policy matters.
- Produce and disseminate informative materials for elected officials and other influential figures across the UK.
- Spot opportunities and create content for both external and internal publications, such as stakeholder newsletters, magazines, and third-party platforms.
- Formulate and execute public affairs strategies for cross-sectional projects involving private renters and microbusinesses.
- Oversee public affairs initiatives, including organizing events for influential audiences and managing our participation in external gatherings.
- Act as a representative for the organization at various events, which may include delivering talks, joining panels, and facilitating discussions as necessary.
- Stay informed about relevant political and policy changes, providing colleagues with updates and proactive insights as required.
- Manage the public affairs monitoring system, ensuring it is effective and provides value.
- Collaborate closely with team members in different regions to synchronize outreach efforts and messaging for a nationwide political audience.
- Maintain reporting systems to evaluate the effectiveness of the public affairs program for senior management.
Essential Qualifications:
- In-depth understanding of the UK political landscape and governmental operations.
- Proven experience in executing high-impact public affairs initiatives.
- Familiarity with stakeholder organizations in the nonprofit and business sectors, along with a track record of influencing them.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Exceptional communication abilities (both verbal and written) with meticulous attention to detail and quality assurance.
- Innovative mindset in developing outreach strategies.
