About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Architect to join our dynamic team within the Missile Architecture division at MBDA. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in all stages of missile development, from initial feasibility studies to series production and ongoing in-service support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Capture and manage requirements to ensure missile performance meets specifications, deadlines, and budget targets.
  • Justify designs, coordinate verification activities to demonstrate performance, and ensure that functional and mechanical requirements are implemented across all missile sub-assemblies.
  • Analyse the overall product structure, mechanical interfaces, and architecture.
  • Conduct architectural trade-offs in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Promote adherence to key design principles such as modularity, reusability, and design for assembly.
  • Assess technology maturity and design complexity at the missile level.
  • Define hardware requirements at the missile level.
  • Provide support during product design and program phase gate reviews.
  • Manage technical relationships with suppliers to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Track and manage assigned budgets effectively.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to engineers within the team.
Requirements
  • Ideal candidate will have a degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of electro-mechanical & mechanical design.
  • Experience developing proving logic and leading the generation of compliance evidence.
  • Dedication to work towards delivery timelines and budgets.
  • Proven track record to foster, and work in, collaborative teams.
  • Ability to work in an international environment and understand cultural issues.
  • Good awareness of broader engineering fields, such as Materials, Tolerancing, Configuration Control, Vibration, Shock, Fatigue, Six Sigma & Lean Design, Systems Engineering V-model, DFMEA.
