Position Overview

FHP is on the lookout for a Lead Mechanical Engineering Consultant to enhance our dynamic team. This role presents a remarkable opportunity for a driven, client-oriented engineer to spearhead various initiatives across the UK.

The successful candidate will be a proactive, assured professional with proven leadership capabilities, adept at delivering prestigious projects with exceptional quality.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Oversee mid to large-scale projects as the principal engineer.
  • Foster relationships with key stakeholders and supervise a team of engineers.
  • Implement quality assurance measures and advocate for technical excellence.
  • Ensure project outcomes align with budgetary constraints.
  • Guide team members and encourage ongoing professional development (CPD) initiatives.
  • Conduct risk evaluations and engage in value engineering practices.
  • Contribute to and supply data for project fee proposals.

Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in mechanical building services design.
  • Familiarity with a diverse array of market sectors.
  • Prior experience in project management and leading small teams.
  • Capability to deliver technically robust design solutions.
  • Experience in advancing conceptual designs to fruition while liaising directly with clients.
  • Professional background within a comparable consultancy or relevant organization.
  • Relevant expertise in mechanical engineering design, including specification development, calculations, and creating designs from foundational principles.
  • Proficiency in software tools such as IES, Hevacomp, AutoCAD, and MS Office; knowledge of Revit is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Outstanding communication skills in both written and spoken English, with the ability to motivate, influence, and negotiate effectively.

Preferred Credentials:

  • Degree in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Ideally Chartered or pursuing Chartership status.
  • Membership in CIBSE or a relevant professional organization.
