About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled VAT Manager to join our team at BDO UK. As a VAT Manager, you will be responsible for providing VAT advisory and compliance services to a wide range of corporate clients in the FTSE100, FTSE250, AIM, and private equity backed and privately owned businesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of existing clients and develop targets to ensure the continued growth of the business.
  • Provide VAT compliance services, including VAT returns, VAT planning, and VAT audits.
  • Assist senior members of staff in client work and the management of the group and on occasions the practice.
  • Proactively manage your own workload, communicating with senior managers/directors/partners on a regular basis.
  • Consider and highlight further opportunities to develop new work.
Requirements
  • Significant understanding of and previous experience with VAT compliance.
  • Good knowledge of VAT technical areas.
  • Responsibility for VAT compliance for own portfolio.
  • Strong understanding and previous use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience using an accounting/compliance software platform.
  • Ability to manage a large and varied client portfolio.
  • Ability to actively seek opportunities for selling new services to existing clients.
  • Experience of dealing direct with Tax Authorities.
  • Experience of dealing with client senior management and key stakeholders.
