Job Title: Principal M&E Surveying Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal M&E Surveying Engineer to join our team at AA Projects Ltd. As a key member of our Mechanical and Electrical Services Asset Surveying Team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality surveys and reports, ensuring the successful completion of projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to project success by providing technical services in accordance with project time and quality.
  • Maintain and enhance technical knowledge to produce high-quality surveys and reports.
  • Liaise with clients, professional organizations, contractors, suppliers, and other surveying departments.
  • Work as part of the Mechanical and Electrical Services Asset Surveying Team.
  • Lead teams in survey commissions, coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Carry out site surveys to record, condition grade, and detail existing mechanical and electrical services assets.
  • Utilize app-based surveying software to record asset details and defects.
  • Review and analyze existing mechanical and electrical services servicing and maintenance records to inform condition grading.
  • Conduct surveys at various buildings, including hospitals, healthcare facilities, schools, universities, hotels, and commercial premises.
  • Travel extensively throughout the UK, staying away from home on a regular basis, with expenses covered.
  • Work independently on smaller surveys, using your initiative to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Report to the Associate Director MEP Asset Surveying.
Types of Surveys:
  • Full asset capture and lifecycle surveys, including condition grading and remedial works prioritization.
  • Planned preventative maintenance surveys to identify assets and maintenance budgets over a 5 or 10-year period.
  • Latent defect surveys conducted as buildings approach the end of a construction contract.
  • Dilapidation surveys typically undertaken towards the end of tenancy or lease term.
  • Environmental condition validation testing using calibrated instruments, including lighting lux levels, acoustic measurements, ventilation flow rates, humidity, space temperature, surface temperature of heat emitters, water services, and pipework.
  • Accessible ceiling inspections recording the condition and grading of M&E assets and services above ceilings using ladders.
Requirements:
  • City & Guilds or HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Proficient in using IT systems, with experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Senior Mechanical and Electrical Services surveying experience, delivering projects, coordinating teams, meeting deadlines, and attending client progress meetings.
  • Experience training and developing the careers of graduate and less experienced surveyors.
  • Good knowledge of British Standards, regulations, and mechanical and electrical services design and installation practices.
