Net Talent Limited is excited to collaborate with a prominent logistics organization seeking to appoint their inaugural IT Security Manager.

This pivotal role will encompass overseeing the organization's IT security framework as the IT Security Manager. The successful applicant will be tasked with guiding a dedicated cyber security team, spearheading the execution of security strategies and compliance measures (ISO27001, Cyber Essentials +, NIST). The role will require close collaboration with various departments to pinpoint potential security vulnerabilities, formulate mitigation strategies, and manage responses to security incidents.

A technical background is preferred, alongside a solid grasp of networks and infrastructure, although it is not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Direct and oversee the cyber security team, including recruitment, mentoring, and performance assessments.
  • Formulate and execute a comprehensive cyber security strategy that aligns with the organization’s business goals.
  • Remain informed about emerging cyber security threats, industry developments, and regulatory standards to adapt strategies and policies as necessary.

Risk Management:

  • Perform regular security risk evaluations to uncover potential weaknesses within the organization’s IT framework.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, ensuring prompt attention to all identified risks.
  • Collaborate with IT and business units to weave security best practices into all operational processes.

Incident Response & Recovery:

  • Supervise the creation and execution of incident response protocols and procedures.
  • Lead the reaction to cyber security incidents, coordinating efforts across teams to minimize damage and ensure a swift recovery.
  • Conduct post-incident evaluations to derive lessons learned and initiate improvements.

Security Operations:

  • Ensure continuous surveillance of networks, systems, and applications for security irregularities.
  • Oversee the management and upkeep of security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and antivirus solutions.
  • Guarantee that security updates and patches are applied promptly across all systems.

Compliance & Governance:

  • Ensure that the organization’s security practices adhere to relevant regulations, standards, and frameworks (e.g., GDPR, ISO27001, NIST).
  • Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards throughout the organization.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management regarding the status of the organization’s security posture.

Training & Awareness:

  • Create and implement cyber security training initiatives for employees to foster security awareness and best practices.
  • Organize regular security drills and simulations to ensure readiness for potential cyber threats.

What we are looking for:

  • Technical Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of cyber security frameworks, risk management, incident response, and security operations. Proficiency with security tools and technologies.
  • Previous experience in delivering ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials + standards.
  • Proven track record in designing and implementing cyber security processes and policies.
  • Demonstrated experience in monitoring and tracking security risks and threats.
  • Proficiency in IT infrastructure and networking is desirable.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to implement practical solutions.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Compensation: A competitive salary of up to £70k is available, depending on experience.
