About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead our Emergency Preparedness and Response function. As Head of Emergency Preparedness and Response, you will be responsible for developing and delivering our emergency planning, preparedness, and resilience function, providing strategic leadership on emergency preparedness and resilience issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on NHS requirements under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and related Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Resilience legislation, directions, standards, or guidance.
  • Act as an expert resource and first point of contact for Civil Contingencies and Emergency Planning management for the NHS Executive.
  • Work closely with the Welsh Government's Health, Social Care, and Early Years Group, providing specialist advice and guidance to inform the development of national policies.
  • Develop an assurance process to enable the NHS Wales Executive to assess NHS Wales organisations' major incident/emergency response plans and preparedness for responding to UK and WG National Security Risk Assessments.
Requirements
  • Educated to Master's degree level or equivalent relevant experience and knowledge in the field of EPRR or Business Continuity.
  • Experience of planning and implementing long-term strategy.
  • Significant experience and in-depth knowledge across a range of disciplines, including financial and staff management, information systems, and performance management.
  • Project and programme management skills.
  • Attended an accredited course in the Strategic (Gold) management of major incidents and certified competent in that role.
