Position Overview
Glebe House Care Home is seeking to hire a Culinary Specialist for a bank role.
Our privately operated care facility, located in a serene and picturesque environment, is designed to provide a new model of care for up to 44 residents.
As a Culinary Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the efficient and cost-effective preparation of high-quality meals within the designated budget, while ensuring the daily operations of the kitchen run smoothly and maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Contract Details
Hourly Rate: £11.50
Type: Bank Contract

Essential Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
Mandatory
- City & Guilds 706 1 & 2, or an equivalent qualification (achieved or in progress)
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Basic Food Hygiene Certification.
- Effective communication skills.
- Capability to work independently.
Preferred
- Prior experience in a management or supervisory role.
- Experience in food preparation for the relevant service user demographic.
- Background in a care setting is advantageous but not essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and serve both hot and cold meals as required.
- Collaborate with the Home Manager to plan and cost menus that provide a balanced and nutritious diet, utilizing available fresh ingredients effectively.
- Guide and supervise kitchen staff in the proper use of equipment and hygiene practices, offering assistance and direction as needed.
- Enhance and maintain professional knowledge and skills.
- Keep accurate records of food supplies and monitor freezer/fridge temperatures.
- Ensure proper stock rotation.
- Assist in ordering supplies and verifying deliveries, as well as checking and valuing stock as required by the Home Manager.
- Adhere to statutory Health & Safety regulations in kitchen and dining areas.
- Ensure all crockery and equipment are cleaned and stored properly, and that the overall cleanliness of the kitchen and dining areas is maintained effectively.
