Job Description

First Legal Solicitors is seeking an experienced Litigator to join our thriving Housing Disrepair Department. As a Litigator, you will be responsible for handling all aspects of civil litigation cases from pre-action protocol stage to trial, including full participation in Court case management and making applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Case Management: Manage a civil litigation caseload from inception to conclusion, ensuring timely and effective resolution of cases.
  • Litigation Strategy: Develop and implement dynamic litigation strategies, both individually and as part of a team, to achieve optimal results for clients.
  • Client Communication: Provide technical and litigation mentoring and guidance to fee earners and legal assistants within the team, as well as communicate effectively with clients to prepare statements and obtain documentary evidence.
  • Document Preparation: Prepare documents, including correspondence, pleadings, and witness statements, to support litigation strategies.
  • Settlement Conferences: Coordinate case strategy and settlement conferences with external counsel, as required.
  • Administrative Tasks: Deal with correspondence and telephone calls, ensuring clients are fully updated on the progress of their cases.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Solicitor Qualification, CILEX, or minimum 3 years litigation experience is a must.
  • Experience: Housing disrepair experience is preferred, with effective use of case management and time recording systems.
  • Skills: Strong customer services skills, client outcome-focused, and adherence to SLAs, KPIs, and Court litigation timetables.
  • Professional Qualities: Proactive and efficient management of your own litigation caseload, management of client expectations, and effective resolution of complaints.
