About the Role:

The Category Buyer / Senior Category Buyer will be responsible for managing a selection of suppliers in either the Powertrain or Chassis commodities to achieve best value for Triumph through the supply chain for direct components required for our motorcycles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop category strategies and sourcing initiatives to support the Company's production volume growth, maintain and build on the current high quality standards, reduce development lead-times, reduce BOM cost, and bring new market technologies expediently to the products.
  • Work with the wider product, design, and QC functions to champion the development of the performance of the existing supply base, identify new sources, and rationalize Triumph's current supply base.
  • Analyze trends in their categories and advise on the most suitable sources for upcoming motorcycle development programmes.
  • Ensure cross-functional collaboration with product, design, and QC teams to arrive at balanced and considered outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Qualified in Maths and English GCSE grade C or above as a minimum, with a degree in Business or Engineering-related field, or in any fields with relevant purchasing experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Packages including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Good commercial awareness and acumen.
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible to address immediate priorities and manage deadlines with longer-term projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Good time management and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, clear and concise written and verbal skills, and the ability to write coherent reports.
  • Ability to make systematic and logical judgements.

Senior Level Requirements:

  • Higher level of experience and knowledge in a similar role.
  • More complex component categories as well as team mentoring.
  • Ability to step up in some cases to assist with team management when the manager is absent due to business or personal leave.
