Welsh Language Support Assistant (Fluency Required)

Position Overview:

Location: Bridgend, Wales

Compensation: £83.85 per day, Monday – Friday

Payment Method: Weekly Pay via PAYE

Are you passionate about fostering the next generation of Welsh speakers?

We are collaborating with a specialized Welsh Immersion Initiative aimed at fully integrating young learners into the Welsh Language, ensuring they achieve fluency in both written and spoken Welsh as they transition from Primary to Secondary Education.

This initiative is designed to support children as young as 3 years old, welcoming those who have relocated to Wales from various parts of the globe. Participants will be immersed in the Welsh language and culture, helping to cultivate a new generation of Welsh speakers.

This role will be implemented in Primary educational institutions throughout the Bridgend County Borough.

Key Qualifications for Applicants:

• Proficiency in both written and spoken Welsh

• A genuine enthusiasm for the Welsh language and a commitment to education, aimed at equipping learners with a valuable lifelong skill

• A patient and empathetic demeanor

• A readiness to adapt and learn; this position will focus on language acquisition and will require customization to meet the diverse needs of young learners

• Previous experience in an educational setting is preferred, whether in a one-on-one support role or general assistance. Understanding how to nurture and develop young individuals is crucial

• While not mandatory, experience working with children or young people for whom English is not the primary language would be beneficial

The specific educational institution for this program will be determined based on logistical considerations, ensuring a suitable location for all involved.

Vetting Requirements:

• Enhanced DBS on the update service

• Application to the Education Workforce Council (EWC)

• Certification in Safeguarding Level 2

• Two valid references from previous employment

All quoted pay rates include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This position is temporary, with the potential for a permanent role in the future.
