Job Title: Principal Field Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Field Engineer to join our team at Class Technology Solutions Ltd. As a Principal Field Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support to our clients in the Education Sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Visiting client sites to provide technical advice and guidance on projects and future system enhancements.
  • Taking ownership of technical issues on site and escalating them to the CTS Helpdesk as necessary.
  • Providing the highest level of technical expertise to all assigned client networks, utilizing best practice.
  • Mentoring Network Managers and Engineers on site and assisting in their progression to the next level of Engineer within CTS.
  • Assisting the Helpdesk team with escalated issues where additional knowledge of the site or product is required.
  • Dealing with incoming issues in a professional and courteous manner, taking ownership and managing them in a logical and methodical way.
  • Conducting full and thorough diagnostics with end users to enable issue resolution.
  • Liaising with sites regarding daily and weekly checks, providing support as required.
  • Scoping requirements for client projects, working with the Head of Technical and Account Managers to identify current setup and required goals.
  • Leading engineering projects for client sites, providing a detailed scope of works and design to the client.
  • Leading individuals or teams on site, delegating tasks to ensure the correct running of the project on time.
Requirements:
  • Hands-on experience with wired and wireless networking, switches, virtual environments, firewalls, web filtering, and advanced troubleshooting.
  • GCSE Grade 5 or above in Maths and English.
  • A-Level, BTEC, NVQ, or T-Level in a relevant subject.
  • Industry qualifications within the IT sector, such as Microsoft, Cisco, Aruba, or Apple.
  • 4-5 years' experience in an IT Support environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide feedback to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Solid understanding of wired and wireless networks and devices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team under pressure.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Experience in the Education Sector.
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to assist non-technical users of IT.
  • Ability to assess and re-prioritize workloads when circumstances or demands change.
  • Ability to take the initiative when necessary.
