Job Title: Advanced SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advanced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a school in Harrogate. The successful candidate will have a strong background in supporting children with SEMH needs and will be able to work effectively with teachers to deliver high-quality learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the planning and preparation of learning activities to support lesson plans and learning outcomes.
  • Support pupils' achievements by monitoring, supporting, and communicating with class teachers.
  • Lead individual or small groups of children in teacher-led learning activities, such as guiding reading, phonics, and math interventions.
  • Maintain the upkeep of classroom resources and prepare materials, such as books, pencils, art supplies, and games.
  • Support children's independence and confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Support the children's social, emotional, and physical development by creating a safe learning environment with strong behavior management skills.
Requirements:
  • Recent and relevant experience working with children and young people in an educational setting.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills in line with the Primary National Curriculum.
  • Recent experience working with children with SEN and SEMH needs and the ability to handle direct strong verbal language and extreme challenging behaviors.
  • Ability to work well under the guidance of the class teacher and have good team player attributes.
  • Passion for education and the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people.
  • Comfortable and flexible with an adapted structure of learning based both indoors and outdoors.
  • Comfortable with animals due to on-site animals that support the children's wellbeing.
