About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Junior Contracts Manager to join our team at SSE Enterprise. As a key member of our procurement and commercial operations, you will play a crucial role in driving value and ensuring top-notch commercial controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and management of key relationships with suppliers and contractors, liaising directly with points of contact on projects and contracts.
  • Work alongside Category Managers and Procurement Officers to ensure optimal sourcing strategies for goods, works, or services.
  • Assist the Head of Procurement and Commercial team in delivering services like estimating, category management, contract administration, and cost management.
  • Negotiate, compile, and award Call Off Contracts while managing supplier interfaces to ensure value for money and strong commercial controls.
  • Handle all post-contract matters, including negotiating compensation events and ensuring that the core principles of the Commercial Manual are being implemented.
Requirements
  • A good working knowledge of UK construction contracts. Experience of working with the NEC ECC forms of contract or similar is essential, along with the ability to research, gather, and present information both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in bottom-up costing, cost and budget management, pre and post-contract administration, contract negotiation, claims, and commercial program and risk management.
  • Good understanding in the preparation and drafting of construction and/or engineering contracts.
  • Excellent IT skills, including knowledge of all MS Office applications. Experience in the use of proprietary purchase systems would be beneficial.
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying is preferred, however, candidates with other relevant related degrees with appropriate experience will be considered. MRICS or MCIPS professional qualifications are desirable, however, other relevant qualifications will be considered, or those working towards a degree or qualification.
