Job Summary

At AMETEK, we are seeking a skilled Fitter - Compressed Gases Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the repair, testing, and overhaul of valve and cylinder assemblies, as well as hydrostatic testing of cylinders and charging of complete assemblies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strip down valve assemblies and replace standard spares as part of the overhaul process.
  • Inspect individual parts and replace defective items.
  • Thoroughly clean components and build-up valve assemblies ready for testing on various flow rigs.
  • Perform hydrostatic testing of cylinders in accordance with Department of Transport requirements.
  • Re-assemble valve and cylinder components and charge complete assemblies to pressures of up to 4500 PSI.
  • Provide ad hoc support to the safety inflatable team as required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with oxygen systems, charging cylinders, and overhauling oxygen components is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience working in an engineering or workshop environment is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience interpreting and following compliance manuals is essential.

Qualifications

  • Numerate and literate with a minimum of GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English.
  • Training in charging and overhaul of oxygen cylinders and oxygen is highly desirable.
