Job Title: Specialty Doctor in General and Colorectal Surgery

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Doctor to join our team at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients in the emergency general surgery department.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the provision of emergency general surgery services at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle
  • Provide senior decision-making support for surgical emergencies at West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven
  • Manage elective surgery patients and provide advice on in-patients under the care of other specialties
  • Assess emergency admissions and A&E patients

Person Specification:
  • GMC Registration
  • FRCS or MRCS or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in surgery at ST3 level and above
  • Experience in managing elective patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Experience in laparoscopic surgery
  • Teaching of junior medical staff and nursing staff
  • Evidence of CPD and appraisal within GMC guidelines
