About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Tax Director to join our team at Carpenter Box LLP. As a key member of our Tax Advisory Group, you will play a crucial role in providing tax advice to a wide range of clients across various sectors.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate tax and a keen interest in learning and developing tax knowledge. You will be responsible for liaising with HMRC, drafting reports and letters of advice, and providing support to Directors and Partners in the Tax Advisory Group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaising with HMRC on clearance applications, enquiries, and other matters
  • Drafting reports and letters of advice on tax advisory issues
  • Preparing calculations to support advice
  • Liaising with clients and attending meetings with other team members
  • Training and reviewing the work of more junior members of staff
  • Providing support to Directors and Partners in the Tax Advisory Group
Examples of Work
  • Advising on corporate reconstructions, investor reliefs, and staff incentive schemes
  • Providing tax planning advice to owner-managed businesses on remuneration and succession planning
  • Preparing research and development claims, VAT returns, and SDLT returns
  • Advising individuals on inheritance tax planning and capital gains tax mitigation
Requirements
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork and organisational skills, including monitoring timetables and budgets
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • A keen interest in learning and developing tax knowledge
