Band 7 Lead Research Nurse/AHP - Specializing in Haematology & Rheumatology

We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Lead Research Nurse/AHP to oversee our Haematology & Rheumatology Research Team.

Your responsibilities will include managing the initiation of studies for the team, conducting feasibility evaluations, coordinating study setups, and assisting the team with participant recruitment and follow-up. Additionally, you will oversee budget management and provide leadership to the team.

Main Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will lead the team in:

Job Responsibilities:

The post holder will:

  • Serve as an expert resource, ensuring compliance with UK and EU regulations, Trust policies, and ICH-GCP or ISO 14155
  • Ensure feasibility assessments are thorough and align with unit capabilities
  • Utilize expert knowledge to apply suitable methodologies in research execution
  • Assist in obtaining ethical permissions and completing necessary submissions
  • Ensure all studies are registered and receive full Trust approval before commencement
  • Collaborate with the R&D department on contract negotiations
  • Maintain communication with the NIHR Clinical Research Network throughout the study
  • Manage financial aspects related to clinical research
  • Conduct detailed cost analyses for studies
  • Oversee project management for all studies in setup
  • Identify and address obstacles to study setup
  • Establish and update Standard Operating Procedures
  • Maintain site files in accordance with ICH-GCP
  • Ensure documentation of training for research-active staff

Clinical Trial Management:

  • Support Principal Investigators in fulfilling their responsibilities under the Research Governance Framework
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of Investigator Site Files and Case Report Forms
  • Understand and apply legal and regulatory requirements for informed consent
  • Project manage participant interactions according to study protocols
  • Act in the best interests of research subjects
  • Incorporate protocol amendments into practice
  • Advise on financial management of clinical research studies
  • Identify recruitment challenges and collaborate on solutions
  • Ensure equipment calibration and documentation retention
  • Assist in timely reporting to regulatory bodies
  • Submit monthly recruitment figures as required
  • Adhere to research guidelines and organizational policies
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information
  • Communicate effectively with R&D and NIHR Clinical Research Network leads

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • RGN or equivalent healthcare professional with current registration
  • Significant experience at Band 6 or higher
  • Broad clinical knowledge

Desirable:

  • Recent experience in clinical research
