Position Overview
We are currently seeking a skilled District Heating Design Consultant to join our team. This role is pivotal in supporting the decarbonization of heat across the UK through effective project deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary duties will encompass project and design development, including:
- Conducting thorough modeling and progressing to detailed design.
- Collaborating with existing building owners to assess their current systems and assisting new build developers in their design processes.
- Performing early-stage techno-economic assessments.
- Engaging in detailed design activities such as hourly load energy modeling, peak load calculations, and network pipe sizing.
- Producing schematics and layouts for energy centers, as well as comprehensive specification documents.
- Ensuring that pre-construction information is accurately relayed to contractors when acting as Principal Designer.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Consulting Engineering capacity within the building services sector, with a focus on communal and district heating systems.
- A solid understanding of heat network design, construction, commissioning, and operational challenges.
- The ability to generate calculations and specifications for RIBA3 and RIBA4 heating and hot water systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable Skills
Additional skills that would be advantageous include:
- Experience with AutoCAD, QGIS, and EnergyPro for drawing development.
- Hands-on experience in designing and delivering energy center and network connection designs.
- Familiarity with industry standards and documentation, such as CIBSE CP1.
Collaboration and Mentorship
As a District Heating Design Consultant, you will be expected to:
- Participate in regular design team meetings with stakeholders to review design progress and identify project risks.
- Maintain project documentation to ensure compliance with internal quality standards and timely delivery.
- Work closely with clients and heat off-takers throughout the design and commercialization phases.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to address information requests and conduct design reviews.
Additionally, you may have the opportunity to mentor Graduate Engineers, fostering their professional growth and technical skills.
