Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Council is seeking a Civil Engineering Surveyor to contribute to our initiatives based in the region. This role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis, with a competitive salary range of £42,403 - £49,498 per annum (pro rata for part-time).

Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be part of the Investment and Compliance Team, embodying our values and dedication to enhancing the lives of our residents and communities. You will oversee the civil engineering functions related to BMSDC housing and corporate assets, which encompasses sewage treatment facilities, pumping stations, drainage systems, and parking areas.
This position will also require participation in an out-of-hours call-out schedule.
Candidate Profile
- A degree in surveying accredited by RICS or at least an HNC level, alongside a NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Safety.
- Demonstrated experience in surveying with a comprehensive understanding of relevant building legislation, including CDM and Health and Safety regulations.
- Strong technical knowledge of housing structures and their components, along with the ability to identify building defects and propose solutions.
- Effective problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong organizational and communication abilities are essential.
- A valid driving license is mandatory for fulfilling the duties of this position.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience in managing both housing and corporate assets.
- Familiarity with design software such as Autodesk, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and MicroStation.
- Experience in civil engineering within the social housing sector or a related field.
- Ability to deliver civil engineering projects in line with the RIBA Plan of Work Framework.
- Experience in managing substantial budgets effectively.
- Knowledge of mapping and photo imaging software.
- Understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements in civil engineering.
- Familiarity with contract law and building regulations.
- Experience in contract procurement and mobilization.
- Strong numerical and data analysis skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with effective decision-making capabilities.
- Proficient project and contract management skills.
