About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Specialist to join our team at Barclays. As a key member of our Data & Records Management (DRM) function, you will play a critical role in enabling effective data governance, risk management, and compliance within the bank.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with local business units to ensure successful implementation of data & records governance frameworks, aligning with business needs and objectives.
  • Provide guidance and support on records classification, retention, storage, retrieval, and disposal to business units, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor local data quality and records metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities for data improvement and optimization, collaborating with stakeholders to develop and implement effective solutions.
  • Support business units in prioritizing data-related initiatives, ensuring that data & records decisions are embedded in their business-as-usual (BAU) decision-making and change programs.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to mitigate risk and strengthen controls, aligning with the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership of managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources, including internal and external sources, to inform business decisions and drive strategic initiatives.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding and experience in managing and mitigating risks, with a focus on data governance and compliance.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to derive actionable insights from data.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to partner with business units and stakeholders to drive data governance initiatives.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines.
