This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Practitioner Whole Life Disability at Leicestershire County Council. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced social work practitioner to work with children and families in a childcare setting.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver good outcomes for children through completing assessments, including mental capacity and progressing case plans, acting as the key worker for looked after children and those subject to a child protection plan as required.
- Manage own workload effectively, maintaining appropriate records and producing reports as required, and making best use of the Department's information systems.
- Assist the Team Manager in promoting a team culture of continuous improvement, ensuring appropriate responses to new Guidance, research and information, promoting a problem-solving and teamwork approach that delivers the best possible outcomes for children, and ensuring an effective contribution to local and national performance indicators for children's services as well as the achievement of Departmental targets and standards.
- Contribute to the team's human resource processes such as recruitment and staff development, upholding the Council's equal opportunities policies and practices throughout.
- Provide supervision for social workers, family support workers, and team administrators as agreed with the Team Manager.
- Deputise for the Team Manager, providing cover for the team duty system and oversight of the wellbeing of the team.
- Attend meetings on behalf of the Team Manager and support less experienced practitioners with care proceedings and Court Of Protection hearings.
- Participate in individual supervision with the Team Manager and undertake training and developmental opportunities as required.
- Oversee and promote best practice to the team's public access point.
- Professional Social Work Qualification
- Registered with Social Work England
- Direct experience working with children in a childcare setting
- Possession of a full driver's license and access to a vehicle
- Excellent communication skills to support internal and multi-agency working relationships
- A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
