Forensic Psychiatry Consultant

Medacs is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist to join our team at Ty Llewelyn Medium Secure Unit, Bryn y Neuadd Hospital, part of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
About the RoleAs a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality psychiatric services to patients with complex mental health needs. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans, and provide expert advice and guidance to junior doctors and other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct new referral assessments, deliver therapy, and refer to psychology colleagues for relevant interventions.
- Formulate care and treatment plans, prescribe various types of treatment, and provide guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness.
- Actively support patients and their families, communicating clinical information to explain a diagnosis and treatment options.
- Communicate with patients and the wider multidisciplinary team on shared patient decision making.
- Work in and lead a multidisciplinary team, assessing and prioritizing patient/client requirements, delegating effectively to others.
- Recognize, review, and report a patient's condition and any changes to the patient and the multidisciplinary team.
- Perform basic administrative and clerical tasks, such as keeping records of test results, writing prescriptions, providing information to patients, and monitoring treatment plans.
- Help teach and train other junior doctors and medical students and other multidisciplinary team members.
- MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) or equivalent.
