We are currently seeking a Principal / Associate Engineer to enhance our Water Sector team, focusing on delivering innovative solutions in our Infrastructure division.

This role is situated within the Asset Planning & Solutions Practice, ideal for an Engineer or Project/Design Manager who is passionate about infrastructure design and adept at overseeing construction projects utilizing the NEC suite of Contracts in the role of NEC Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Our engineering services demand agility and a forward-thinking approach. Below are the responsibilities and qualifications we are looking for, as part of our dynamic multidisciplinary water/wastewater team:
  • Lead and facilitate the execution of engineering projects, particularly during the design and construction phases, ensuring adherence to budget and timelines.
  • Manage construction projects under the NEC suite of contracts, including the evaluation and negotiation of contract modifications.
  • Engage with clients to lead discussions on technical civil engineering solutions.
  • Supervise teams responsible for design outputs, including engineering calculations, drawings, and contract documentation.
  • Ensure that project deliverables meet established quality standards and specifications.
  • Maintain a client-centric approach, fostering strong relationships and understanding client needs to propose optimal technical solutions.
  • Demonstrate a proactive commitment to Health and Safety, with a solid understanding of CDM regulations.
Additional Responsibilities Based on Preference:
  • Identify and prepare competitive bids to secure future business opportunities.
  • Contribute to the implementation of digital engineering initiatives and innovative advancements in water sector solutions.
  • Oversee site supervision for infrastructure construction projects.
  • Develop and maintain strong professional relationships to facilitate repeat business.
Detailed Role Requirements:

Essential Qualifications:
  • Degree in civil engineering or a related field; professionally qualified member of a recognized engineering institution (CEng/IEng, etc.).
  • Experience in Construction Project Management utilizing the NEC Suite of Contracts.
  • Proven experience in developing civil engineering designs, specifications, and contract documentation.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement, including both technical and non-technical audiences.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • NEC4 ECC PM Accreditation (training available if not already held).
  • Demonstrable experience in the Water sector; other civil engineering experience (energy, maritime, geotechnical, industrial) is also relevant.
  • Current knowledge of design codes and software pertinent to Civil and Water Engineering.
  • Prior experience working on UK Water frameworks.
  • Experience in leading engineering design teams.
  • Ability to showcase a proven track record of collaborative teamwork in project delivery.
