London, Greater London, United Kingdom London Communications Agency Full time

Political Insight Analyst

At London Communications Agency, we thrive in a vibrant and fast-moving atmosphere, continuously challenging ourselves and learning from one another – no two days are ever alike, and we embrace this dynamic. Joining our Insight team means becoming part of a dedicated group focused on delivering high-quality analysis and intelligence.

About the Role

The Political Insight Analyst position offers an exceptional opportunity for individuals at the beginning of their careers (preferably with around a year of experience) to become part of a successful and expanding organization. Here, you will engage in diverse tasks across various clients within an energetic and supportive environment.

This role is integral to our Insight team, which spearheads the company's monitoring and research initiatives related to political and public policy, serving as the central hub for our corporate thought leadership and intelligence-driven marketing strategies. Collaborating closely with our internal Design, Finance, and Administration teams, Insight underpins both of our client-facing divisions.

The Political Insight Analyst will play a crucial role within the Insight team, working alongside the Insight Account Manager and the Managing Director. This position provides valuable exposure to senior management and opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across the agency to achieve optimal outcomes for our clients.

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who possess a solid understanding of government and political processes, with a focus on Labour politics being especially advantageous. Familiarity with policy areas such as urban planning, housing, development, transportation, and healthcare would also be beneficial. However, what we value most is a genuine enthusiasm for political and policy-related matters.

We aim to enhance the Insight Team's contributions to ensure comprehensive support for the entire organization, including closer collaboration with our design, marketing, and social media teams. We welcome candidates with experience in data analysis and visualization, as well as those who have worked with social media platforms.

Key Responsibilities

As a Political Insight Analyst, you will be:

  • Monitoring and synthesizing critical intelligence: Keeping abreast of political developments relevant to our clients, particularly in sectors such as planning, housing, development, transportation, and healthcare.
  • Tracking legislative processes: Observing key policymaking activities in governmental bodies and understanding their implications for our clients.
  • Conducting research: Investigating political activities at local government levels and informing account teams of significant changes.
  • Media monitoring: Analyzing both social and traditional media, preparing reports, and updating account teams as necessary.
  • Networking: Attending relevant conferences and political events to gather essential intelligence for our clients.

Supporting New Business and Marketing Efforts

  • Assisting the Insight team in producing our weekly newsletter by identifying relevant stories and trends, conducting research, and contributing to the editorial process.
  • Providing research support for the creation of election briefings.
  • Helping colleagues with the design and production of marketing materials, presentations, and proposals.
  • Leading contributions to our social media channels, ensuring that the Insight team's work is effectively showcased.

Maintaining Intelligence Systems

  • Managing our database of political contacts, particularly within key political parties and local government bodies.
  • Coordinating with monitoring services to ensure our intelligence systems are current and effective.

About You

  • Exceptional critical thinking and writing skills, capable of distilling complex issues into concise briefings for diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure.
  • Proficient IT skills, particularly in Word and PowerPoint, with experience in Excel and content management systems being advantageous.
  • Creativity in presenting data and insights in engaging ways for various audiences.
  • A passion for politics, especially Labour politics, and a solid understanding of local and regional governance.
  • Experience in communications or public relations is a plus.
  • A willingness to build relationships and develop a network of useful contacts.
  • A strong desire to learn and grow within the team.
