Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Flood Risk Consultant to lead and manage complex flood risk assessment projects from inception to completion. As a key member of our team, you will provide technical direction and oversight to project teams, ensuring high-quality deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage complex flood risk assessment projects, including conducting detailed Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs), hydrological and hydraulic modelling, and drainage analysis.
  • Provide technical direction and oversight to project teams, ensuring high-quality deliverables and adherence to relevant regulations, policies, and guidelines.
  • Present findings and recommendations to clients in a clear and concise manner, ensuring effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Stay informed about changes in legislation and advise clients on compliance requirements, ensuring our clients remain up-to-date with the latest flood risk management practices.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, planners, and environmental scientists, to integrate flood risk considerations into broader projects.
  • Contribute to the development of proposals and business development activities to expand the client base and promote our flood risk management services.

Requirements:

  • A degree or similar in a hydrology, physical geography, or a flood risk-related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience within Flood Risk, with a proven track record of leading and managing complex projects.
  • Experience in supporting a wider team in assessing all sources of flooding, with a willingness to embrace complex problems.
  • Understanding of hydrology estimation (e.g. FEH) and experience with modelling packages (Flood Modeller, TuFLOW, Microdrainage, etc.).
  • Experience in producing FRAs and SuDS, with a sound understanding and interpretation of flood risk policy and legislation.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
