Anticoagulation Clinical Nurse Specialist

The Anticoagulant Team at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to join their team. As a member of the team, you will work closely with Consultants and existing Nurse Specialists to run nurse-led clinics for patients on anticoagulant therapy.

The successful candidate will have considerable nursing experience, preferably with an acute or community background, and will be responsible for reviewing all new patients, overseeing the discharge of patients discharged home on anticoagulants, and providing patient training, education, and counselling on anticoagulants.

The role will also involve performing INR testing using Near Patient Testing devices, seeing patients in anticoagulant clinics, reviewing INR, and adjusting warfarin doses as appropriate. Additionally, the successful candidate will liaise with the Lead Haematology Consultant regarding complex patients and be actively involved in the prevention of venous thromboembolism and the Trust's risk assessment and thromboprophylaxis strategy.

The Anticoagulant Team provides a dedicated and professional service to patients, and the successful candidate will be involved in the management and supervision of Band 6 CNSs, administrative staff, and the Anticoagulant team. They will also assist the Lead CNS and Haematology Consultant in service development and improvement.
