Are you skilled in working within a specialized educational environment, addressing social, emotional, and mental health challenges, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)? Have you recently completed your training as a higher level teaching assistant and are now ready to embark on a rewarding career in a dedicated educational setting?
To qualify for this position, you must possess significant experience working with children who have special needs, along with the necessary qualifications. Familiarity with ASD, ADHD, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) issues is advantageous. It is essential to manage challenging behaviors with composure and effectiveness, as many students may display such behaviors.
The committed teaching staff works collaboratively in challenging circumstances, engaging in interventions as required. A positive and patient approach is vital when addressing various situations.
This role primarily focuses on SEMH, as students may not have thrived academically in mainstream educational environments. Your responsibilities will include providing classroom support, which encompasses planning, marking, and infusing creativity into lessons. Daily briefings will outline the day's objectives and facilitate discussions regarding student progress with senior educators.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting teachers within the classroom
- Providing one-on-one or small group support to students
- Overseeing classroom resources
- Accompanying students on educational outings
- Engaging with students who face social challenges during breaks
- Managing heightened behaviors and ensuring student safety
- Organizing activities and displays
- Celebrating student achievements
- Participating in therapeutic sessions
This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 4 PM, during term time only. Initially, this role is temporary, with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent position.
