Job Title: Civil Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our team in Bedford. As a Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for working on various residential and non-residential projects across the UK, from small private developers to house builders and master planning schemes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Work on residential and non-residential projects, including small private developers, house builders, and master planning schemes
  2. Liaise and communicate with clients, third-party consultants, and council officers
  3. Liaise and communicate with the wider engineering team
  4. Assist with team management and/or manage the team
  5. Manage your own workload and deadlines, and run your own projects
  6. Use CAD software, including Microstation
  7. Use drainage and 3D design software, such as Flow and PDS
  8. Undertake due diligence and feasibility reviews of potential sites
  9. Prepare submission packs for planning
  10. Complete technical design submissions
  11. Complete groundworks packages for tender and construction
  12. Produce private engineering designs for on-plot civil works
  13. Have an understanding of the planning process and associated documents

Requirements:

  1. Relevant degree-level education
  2. Proficient knowledge of UK drainage and flood risk
  3. Proficient knowledge of client and local authority standards
  4. Proficient with Microdrainage, Flow, Microstation, and AutoCAD
  5. Microsoft software skills

Experience:

  1. Proven experience with technical submissions
  2. Experience with preparing engineering drawings for planning submissions
  3. Experience with private plot work design
  4. Experience with earthwork designs
  5. Evidence of communication skills and client interaction
  6. Experience with team management
