About the Role

The Chief Financial and Operating Officer (CFOO) is a critical member of the Senior Leadership Team at Withington Girls' School, playing a vital role in the school's strategic planning and day-to-day operations. Reporting to the Headmistress, the CFOO will be responsible for the effective leadership and management of the school's non-educational functions, including finance, estates, human resources, IT, facilities, compliance, and commercial activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of the school's financial and operational strategies
  • Manage the school's finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Oversee the school's estates and facilities, ensuring they are well-maintained and meet the needs of the school community
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for human resources, IT, and compliance
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with the Headmistress, Governors, and colleagues at all levels

Requirements

The successful candidate will possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, exceptional financial acumen, and robust commercial judgement. Prior experience in the education sector is not a prerequisite, and applications are encouraged from candidates with commercial, charitable, private-sector, and public-sector backgrounds.
