About the Role

Citi's Issuer Services legal team is seeking a highly skilled and experienced lawyer to join our team as a Senior Legal Counsel. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the business and more senior members of the legal team on responding to litigation, sanctions environment, regulatory change, and market developments worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the business and more senior members of the legal team on responding to litigation, sanctions environment, regulatory change, and market developments worldwide.
  • Ensure that our policies, practices, procedures, and precedent documents are up to date and compliant with the latest developments in case law and legislation.
  • Develop cutting-edge products and work closely with colleagues in the business and fellow control functions to ensure that the deals the business takes on meet our legal criteria and Citi's overarching requirements for Responsible Finance.
  • Act as an escalation point for in-business transaction managers to assist them with specific legal issues or to interpret and/or understand contractual provisions.
  • Support other colleagues in Issuer Services legal globally, including in connection with litigation, defaults, restructurings, and complex issues generally.
Requirements
  • Experience working as a lawyer in an international legal environment gained either in a large law firm or financial institution.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across different functions and locations.
