About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacist to join our team as a Prescribing Support Pharmacist. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with GPs, other healthcare professionals, and community pharmacists to support the development and application of high-quality, safe, and cost-effective prescribing practices in NHS Lanarkshire.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with GPs, practice staff, and other healthcare professionals to provide individualized clinical care to patients and improve the safety and effectiveness of their medications.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate processes to ensure successful implementation of NHS Lanarkshire prescribing strategies and policies.
  • Support the operational delivery of the pharmacotherapy service within the locality.
  • Provide clinical pharmacy expertise and guidance to healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of education and training programs for healthcare professionals.

Requirements

  • Masters of Pharmacy Degree
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Highly specialized clinical pharmacy knowledge, skills, and clinical reasoning and judgment
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Information technology and analytical skills
  • Proven practice research/audit skills
  • Proven negotiation skills and ability to motivate and influence others
  • Planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Critical appraisal skills
  • Valid driving license

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Extensive post-registration experience
  • Track record of success in prescribing support
  • Knowledge of GP practice computer systems and PRISMS/PIS
  • Understanding of the wider NHS and its impact on primary care

Contract Type and Location

This is a permanent position, and the successful candidate will be based across NHS Lanarkshire. The working pattern will be Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
