About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacist to join our team as a Prescribing Support Pharmacist. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with GPs, other healthcare professionals, and community pharmacists to support the development and application of high-quality, safe, and cost-effective prescribing practices in NHS Lanarkshire.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with GPs, practice staff, and other healthcare professionals to provide individualized clinical care to patients and improve the safety and effectiveness of their medications.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate processes to ensure successful implementation of NHS Lanarkshire prescribing strategies and policies.
- Support the operational delivery of the pharmacotherapy service within the locality.
- Provide clinical pharmacy expertise and guidance to healthcare professionals and patients.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of education and training programs for healthcare professionals.
Requirements
- Masters of Pharmacy Degree
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Highly specialized clinical pharmacy knowledge, skills, and clinical reasoning and judgment
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Information technology and analytical skills
- Proven practice research/audit skills
- Proven negotiation skills and ability to motivate and influence others
- Planning and organizational skills
- Ability to work autonomously
- Critical appraisal skills
- Valid driving license
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive post-registration experience
- Track record of success in prescribing support
- Knowledge of GP practice computer systems and PRISMS/PIS
- Understanding of the wider NHS and its impact on primary care
Contract Type and Location
This is a permanent position, and the successful candidate will be based across NHS Lanarkshire. The working pattern will be Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
