Job Title: Junior Sister/Charge Nurse

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our team at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for leading, motivating, and developing a team of nurses to deliver high-quality care to patients with stroke and medical conditions.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Deputise for the Ward Manager in their absence and ensure a positive patient experience through the delivery of high standards of patient care.
  • Support the Ward Manager and other Ward Sisters/Charge Nurses in the effective implementation of change and facilitate effective management of clinical and non-clinical risk reporting.
  • Take regular charge of the clinical area and be responsible for assessments of care needs, development, implementation, and evaluation of care to ensure the highest possible standards of care are received by patients.
  • Supervise and teach other nursing and non-nursing staff, acting as an excellent clinical role model and team leader.
Requirements:
  • Current Registered Nurse with the NMC.
  • Degree in Nurse related specialty or working towards.
  • Able to evidence recent and continuing professional development relevant to the department.
  • Mentorship / Practice Supervisor & Practice Assessor Preparation or teaching qualification or working towards.
Experience:
  • Post registration experience of working in an acute hospital setting.
  • Evidence of teaching others.
  • Experience in managing medical patients.
  • Experience of managing a team and staff performance.
  • Experience in working in a stroke ward.
Skills:
  • Ability to prioritise and organise workload.
  • Knowledge and skills in caring for patients in the acute phase post-stroke.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Counseling or coaching skills.
  • Knowledge of patient administration systems e.g. PAS.
