Job Title: Principal Systems Engineer

BAE Systems is seeking a highly skilled Principal Systems Engineer to join our Combat Systems Integration Services (CSIS) – Tools & Technology (T&T) team.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced software developer with a strong understanding of systems engineering methodologies and experience of the full lifecycle. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining the integration, test, and analysis support infrastructure for the Naval Ships Combat Systems Maritime Integration & Support Centre.

Key Responsibilities
  • Developing tool setup, configuration, and scenario files, such as Wireshark Dissectors
  • Maintaining the toolset deployed across the integration labs
  • Performing post-event analysis of recorded Combat System data
  • Organising and conducting toolset training
  • Carrying out configuration management of the deployed toolset
  • Developing future tools and maintaining the toolset roadmap
Requirements
  • Extensive software and script development experience on Windows and Linux platforms in C/C++/C#, Shell scripts, Perl, Python, PHP, and SQL
  • Sound understanding of IP networks
  • Good understanding of virtualisation technologies and containerisation
  • Understanding of how synthetic environments support system integration and how they interface to the system under test
  • Good understanding of systems engineering methodologies and experience of the full lifecycle
Desirable Skills
  • Ability to grasp emergent technologies and understand how they can be applied to existing or future integration tools
  • Able to respond to rapidly changing circumstances
  • In-depth understanding of data recording and/or analysis tools such as Wireshark, and their application over the integration lifecycle
